AC Reactors is an electrical device that works on the principle of electromagnetic induction and is usually used to control and regulate current and voltage in power systems. The following is a detailed explanation of the basic concepts of AC reactors:

1. Definition and Principle
Definition: AC reactors, also known as inductors, have a certain inductance in the circuit because of the effect of electromagnetic induction, which can prevent current changes.
Principle: When a conductor is energized, a magnetic field is generated in the space around it. All current-carrying conductors have a certain inductance. However, the inductance of a long straight conductor is small, and the magnetic field generated is not strong. Therefore, the actual reactor is usually in the form of a wire wound into a solenoid, called an air-core reactor. In order to increase the inductance, an iron core is sometimes inserted into the solenoid, and such a reactor is called an iron core reactor.
2. Main Function
Limiting current changes: The basic function of the AC reactor is to store magnetic field energy and prevent current changes. By introducing a reactor, the system can be more stable and the transmission efficiency of electric energy can be improved.
Protecting equipment: In terms of active reactance, the reactor is mainly used to limit the size of short-circuit current and protect equipment from damage caused by excessive current.
Improving power factor: In terms of reactive reactance, the reactor is used to adjust the reactive power in the power grid, thereby improving the power factor and power quality of the power system.
Suppressing harmonics: In applications such as frequency converters, AC reactors can effectively suppress the generation and propagation of harmonic currents and reduce the pollution of harmonics to the power grid.
3. Application scenarios
Power system: AC reactors are widely used in power systems to reduce surge currents, voltage notch effects and voltage spikes, and improve the stability and reliability of power systems.
Industrial automation: In the field of industrial automation, AC reactors are often used to protect frequency converters and their loads, extend the life of motors, etc.

In summary, as an important electrical device, AC reactors play a vital role in power systems and industrial automation.
