The Air Conditioner Does Not Cool. Is It Necessary To Install A Voltage Stabilizer If The Air Conditioner Is Fault-free? Experience Has Shown That Voltage Instability Is The Cause

In the same building, using the same electricity, the air conditioner has no quality problems, and the air conditioner installed downstairs can be used normally, but the one installed upstairs has frequent problems, blowing hot air. However, after checking, the air conditioner is good and there is no fault. Why is this?

Citizens reported: The air conditioner downstairs is fine, but the air conditioner upstairs blows hot air

On the morning of the 16th, the reporter received a call from Ms. Han, a citizen in the provincial capital. Ms. Han told the reporter that air conditioners were installed on the upper and lower floors of her store. The one downstairs can be used normally, but the one upstairs blows hot air after being turned on for 3-5 minutes.

According to Ms. Han, in December last year, she bought a cabinet unit of Chigo air conditioner at Suning. The price at that time was relatively favorable, only more than 4,000 yuan. "After Chigo's after-sales staff installed it, I tried it and there was no problem. Since then, the air conditioner has been there, and it has been turned on 2-3 times, and there is no problem."

However, in early June this year, when Ms. Han turned on the "long-lost" air conditioner again, she found that the air conditioner did not cool down after 3 minutes, and hot air blew out from it, and garbled characters began to appear on the display. What puzzled Ms. Han was that they were in the same building, using the same electricity, and both were new air conditioners, so why could the downstairs air conditioner operate normally, but the upstairs air conditioner could not?

Ms. Han said that she had called Chigo Air Conditioner many times, but the other party had not solved it, which made her very anxious.

Manufacturer explanation: The downstairs air conditioner is a variable frequency air conditioner and the upstairs air conditioner is a fixed speed air conditioner

Later, the reporter contacted Mr. Yang, who was responsible for after-sales maintenance of Chigo Air Conditioner, by phone. He told the reporter that the reason why the air conditioner upstairs in Ms. Han's store could not be used normally was that the voltage was insufficient.

"Why didn't the voltage be measured in December?" the reporter asked.

"Because it was installed at a different time than it was used. It was installed in winter, when few people used air conditioners. If the voltage was measured at that time, it would definitely be stable." Master Yang explained to the reporter that due to the hot weather in summer, many people use refrigeration appliances, which consumes a lot of electricity, resulting in unstable voltage. The air conditioner that Ms. Han bought is a fixed-speed air conditioner, and the one downstairs uses a variable-frequency air conditioner, which has relatively loose voltage requirements.

Master Yang told reporters that the main difference between variable-frequency and non-variable-frequency air conditioners is in terms of voltage requirements and energy saving. "Ordinary fixed-speed air conditioners require voltage between 192 volts and 242 volts; while variable-frequency air conditioners require voltage between 162 volts and 252 volts. At that time, the voltage of Ms. Han's store was measured to be 176 volts, which did not meet the minimum voltage required by air conditioners, so unstable conditions would occur."

At the same time, Master Yang said that in the hot summer, every household uses a lot of electrical appliances, which will inevitably cause a large voltage load. The variable-frequency air conditioner is relatively flexible. In addition, when the variable frequency air conditioner drops to a certain temperature, the speed of the compressor and the external fan will automatically slow down, making the room temperature constant, which is more energy-saving than ordinary air conditioners.

Solution: Need to buy Dynamic Voltage Regulator (DVR)

Suning Customer Department also said that according to the national "three guarantees" regulations, the return period of the product is 7 days. In addition, the instability caused by the voltage rather than the quality problem of the product itself cannot be returned or exchanged. Regarding this issue, the relevant person in charge of Chigo suggested that Ms. Han buy a voltage stabilizer, so that the air conditioner can operate normally.

However, Ms. Han said that the voltage stabilizer is not cheap, at least more than 1,000 yuan, which makes her feel a little unacceptable.
