What Is The Normal Temperature Range Of Dry-type Transformers?

The normal temperature range of Dry Type Transformer depends on its insulation grade and design requirements.

Generally speaking, the normal operating temperature range of dry-type transformers will vary, but it can usually be considered within the following range:

Common operating temperature range: Some data indicate that the normal operating temperature of dry-type transformers is generally between 80°C and 120°C. There are also data indicating that the normal operating temperature range is generally 50℃ to 100℃, and there is no problem operating within 140℃, because the temperature grade of the F-class insulation system is 155℃.
Insulation material grade: The temperature range of dry-type transformers is also closely related to the insulation material grade it uses. For example, the allowable temperature rise of F-class insulation material is 100K and the maximum allowable temperature is 155℃; the allowable temperature rise of H-class insulation material is 125K and the maximum allowable temperature is 180℃.
Room temperature conditions: When the room temperature does not exceed 40℃ and is not lower than -5℃, the dry-type transformer should operate according to the nameplate specifications.

Summary: The normal temperature range of dry-type transformers is a relatively wide range, which depends on their insulation level, design requirements and actual working conditions. Under normal circumstances, their operating temperature should not exceed the maximum temperature allowed by the insulation material to ensure the safe and stable operation of the transformer. At the same time, it is also necessary to pay attention to the daily inspection and maintenance of the transformer to promptly detect and deal with temperature abnormalities and other problems.
