The types of voltage regulators are mainly Automatic Voltage Regulator and wide range regulators.

Automatic voltage regulator: Automatic voltage regulator is a common automatic voltage regulator. It is regulated by arranging an additional winding on the main winding to divide the input voltage into two parts. Automatic voltage regulator has the characteristics of simple circuit structure, wide adjustment range and high efficiency.

Wide range voltage regulator: A wide range voltage regulator refers to arranging two auxiliary windings on the main winding, and adjusting the output voltage by adjusting the relative position or connection method between them. The wide range voltage regulator has a more stable output voltage and better output waveform quality, but the circuit structure is more complex.

Difference:

The circuit structure of the automatic voltage regulator and the wide range voltage regulator is different. The automatic voltage regulator has only one additional winding and the wide range voltage regulator has two auxiliary windings.

The automatic voltage regulator has a wider adjustment range, but the output voltage fluctuates more; while the wide range voltage regulator has a more stable output voltage, but a narrower adjustment range.

Automatic voltage regulators have higher efficiency but lower requirements on output waveform quality; wide range voltage regulators can provide better output waveform quality but have slightly lower efficiency.
