What Is A Voltage Optimizer?
A Voltage Optimiser is a complex electronic device integrated into a solar photovoltaic (PV) system to enhance the performance of a solar panel. These devices are part of the broader category of voltage optimizers, which are tailored specifically for solar applications. Their primary function is to maximize the energy output of a single solar panel, which can be hampered by a number of factors, such as shadows, dirt, and even differences in panel orientation.
Each solar panel in an array typically has its own voltage optimizer. This setup allows for precise control and adjustment of electrical output at the module level, rather than relying on the overall output of the string or array. Key to the voltage optimizer's functionality is its ability to perform maximum power point tracking (MPPT) on each panel.
